Authoritative Server

An authoritative name server gives responses to queries about domains that have been configured on it. It contains the entire copy of the zone. The name server can be either a master or a slave depending how it is configured for the zone. A master has the records for the zone a slave has a copy of the records for the zone which comes from the master name server.
