In DNS a lame delegation can happen a couple of ways.
- when a name sever is designated as the authoritative server for a domain which it doesn't have authoritative information. type of error that results when a name server is designated as the authoritative server for a domain name for which it does not have authoritative data.
- If an NS record for a zone points to a non-authoritative server instead of to it authoritative server a lame delegation can happen.
